This super popular morning tea restaurant is worth a try||There are many Cantonese-style morning tea restaurants in Los Angeles, and many of them are delicious, but I am still willing to give it a thumbs up. For a while, I ate there once a week. Sometimes I would pack a portion of fried noodles when I passed by, and I would come to take a look when I didn't know what to eat. Environment: Clean and tidy, well decorated, very suitable for family gatherings, friends gatherings and business lunches. Dishes: 80% of the dishes will not be disappointing, the ingredients are fresh, just order what you like, the taste is the same as in China. Parking: There is an indoor parking lot next to the restaurant, which will not be exposed to the sun. Surroundings: There are dessert shops, clothing stores, milk tea shops and supermarkets around, you can go shopping after eating to digest the food
We arrived at Lunasia Dim Sum House in Alhambra for a late lunch around 2 pm and were pleasantly surprised to be seated immediately. The staff promptly asked if we wanted tea, and we opted for a teapot of Chinese tea, only to find out later that it costs $4 per person--something not mentioned upfront but visible on the final bill. The ordering process involves scanning a QR code, which brings up the menu on your phone. While the options are diverse and appealing, we found the prices to be on the higher side, especially given the portion sizes. Despite the pricing, a couple of dishes stood out. The wonton in chili oil was a delightful mix of spice and savory flavors, making it a memorable dish. The jumbo shrimp dumplings were another highlight, with succulent shrimp and a delicate wrapper that made for an excellent bite. Overall, Lunasia Dim Sum House offers a good variety of dim sum with some standout dishes. However, be prepared for higher prices and smaller portions. The tea charge is also an unexpected surprise. While the convenience of immediate seating and digital ordering is a plus, the overall experience might leave you feeling it's a bit too pricey for what you get.
Pretty delicious! A little bit on the pricier side but it is worth it. I ordered takeout and ordering online can be complicated. When I tried ordering online, it was nowhere to be found; however, then it said i needed to get an app? The food itself was very yummy, they have jumbo Shu Mai and EVERYTIME it's going to do it for me. Also, I noticed that every time I order from here, they are always busy. Today, their service was quick and fast and my order was ready in 8 minutes! Thank you Lunasia.
This is a fancy, upper scale dim sum restaurant. The name suits the food and service. Food was very tasty and definitely worth the higher prices. There's a long wait to be seated so be prepared for that. This is a better location than the Pasadena one. We ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Har Gow, Jumbo Pork Siu Mai, Steamed Chicken Feet, Crispy Shrimp Roll, Sakula Egg Yolk Bun, Sticky Rice, and Pineapple Bun BBQ Pork. The last two items we took them to go. The to-go boxes were in really nice packaging. Each item was very filling, especially the jumbo-sized shrimp har gow and pork siu mai.
Just had a bunch here with my family and it was wonderful! ! One of the best if not the best dimsum I have ever been. Probably in my top 3 to date. We love Everything about this place. From the food, place and staff were great. First of all, the place looks really clean and well maintained. The system for ordering food is very organized. They give you QR code and you place your order through that code and in minutes, your order is ready. Very fast service. The staff could use a little smile in their faces otherwise they're are fine. We didn't mind it. Everything we ordered were just awesome. Very flavorful and delicious. The taste was right to our liking. All equally good! Not oily, not salty. It's the right blend. So much better than any dimsum house I have been. Portions are generous and price are very very reasonable. 4.5 stars in my opinion
Great Dim Sum! Portions are on the bigger side and bit pricier compared to traditional dim sum places. Everything comes out hot. Be prepared to wait depending on the time you go. Fun to go with more people to try different plates. The free onsite parking makes it easier to go. Will definitely go back again.
3.5 star average on Yelp? Ouch! Food here is just great. High quality Dim Sum. Lunasia is Michelin (Bib Gourmand) recognized for a reason. Love the ordering system: download the QR code they provide then order everything on your smart phone. Once done, they place a printed list at your table and cross out your ordered food as the items arrive at your table. Takeout orders: use the kiosk in front of the restaurant. Service can improve. While efficient, service can be a hit or miss. After your food is dropped off, it's hard to flag down waitstaff if you need additional essentials or the check. Patience helps. Parking was easy to find in the lot behind the restaurant. Street parking safe in the area.
